Save the Dates!!

I am so excited to share some upcoming events with you!  I will be having a few trunk shows around the Seattle area where you can come and shop my hand dyed yarns in person.  I would LOVE to meet you so mark your calendars!  I hope you can make it!

Saturday August 5th 1pm-5pm Serial Knitters 8427 122nd Ave NE Kirkland, WA 98033

I will be heading back to Serial Knitters again with my stock of wooly wares.  If you are on the east side, please stop by and say hello!

Sunday August 13th 12pm-5pm The Fiber Gallery 8212 Greenwood Ave N Seattle, WA 98103

I am so thrilled to head over to the west side of Seattle for the first time to offer my fellow knitters a chance to shop my hand dyed yarns!  I will be set up at The Fiber Gallery all day so you have plenty of time to stop in and squish the yarns!

And the BIG BIG announcement!!

Fiber and Hue will be at KnitFit Seattle!!  WHAT?!  Thats right!  If you receive the KnitFit emails, you probably saw the vendor list that was sent out Saturday and yes! Fiber and Hue was on it!  I am still kind of pinching myself!  This will be the first time Fiber and Hue has had a booth anywhere.  I feel so honored for the chance to be there along with so many artisans and crafters and lovers of all things fiber.  If you happen to be in the area in November, you won't want to miss it.  I have attended KnitFit as a patron every year since it began and I have to say, it is one of my favorite market places.  It is very hard to walk away unhappy (or empty handed!) because of all the wonderful and unique variety of goods that are available.

The Beginning

Hi, my name is Krista, and Im a yarn addict.

It all started in 4th grade.  My first experience with knitting.  Ever since, yarn has been a part of my life.  I started out with terribly scratchy acrylic yarn on needles that I am sure were 3 sizes to small, as one does right?  I made very tight stitches that made my hands cramp.  No clue about gauge or really what I was doing.  All I knew was that I enjoyed the heck out of it.

Now here I am, 25 years later.  Still knitting.  Still crocheting.  And rather than getting tired of the craft, my passion for it has only grown.  It is my therapy.  It keeps me calm and gives me peace of mind.  As corny as it sounds, knitting has gotten me though some low points in my life but, its also been a highlight.  I work in a shop where I get to teach people how to knit and see get them all worked up over yarn the same way I do!  It makes me happy.

That gets me to the point of this whole thing.  I love yarn.  I mean, I REALLY love yarn.   I love that you can take a single strand and turn it into a sweater!  How crazy is that?  I love the endless rainbow of colors you can get.  I have so many inspirations for color ways and Im constantly imagining new ones.  So I am venturing into that side of the fiber arts and starting my own hand dyed yarn.  From bright to variegated to tonal, I dye colors that make me smile.  They are colors that make me want to reach for them and make something beautiful.  This space is dedicated to my experiments in achieving just that.  Some might not work out but as a dear friend always says, "mistakes are an opportunity to learn."  These will be the words to live by.

Someday soon these will be out in the world being turned into beautiful finished pieces.  That is my goal.  Thank you for stopping by, reading my story and by doing so, supporting me on this crazy new journey!
